4/30: Intro To Unit 6

Welcome to Unit 6: Plants and Ecology!

Today we will get set up for our final unit of the year. First we will review the results of the Unit 5 Final, and talk about what your current GPA means for your semester grade in Biology.

Progress reports will be sent home today (with May-Fail letters for students with a GPA of 2.5 or lower), and these need to be signed and returned by our next class on 5/2.

After reviewing our calendar, we will start exploring the world of Plants and Ecology! There are so many fascinating and strange plants around the world that have developed adaptations in order to survive in their environments. (Remember: an adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive in its environment!) Today we will watch a portion of the BBC Life episode on plants, which will introduce you to some of the world's most interesting species. By the end of class today you should have a basic understanding of what plants need in order to survive, and be able to describe some unique plant adaptations.
