Last class we spent a lot of time focusing on Protein Synthesis (how proteins are made), and we learned that proteins are very important in the cell. Today we're going to learn about what proteins can do for our cells and our bodies, and how enzymes (a specific kind of protein) helps with chemical reactions, and why that is so important for our bodies.
Today's agenda will begin with some notes on enzyme structure and function, including some real-life examples that you may have heard about, such as Jello and lactose intolerance.
Finally, we will do an activity called "Toothpickase", where you will play the role of an enzyme who will face the danger of being DENATURED! :)
